Solanum tuberosum in its scientific name is widely and commonly called ‘Potato’.

Potato is a starchy root vegetable of Central American origin. A widely grown root crops and one of the cheapest staple food ingredients consumed all over the world.

Potato has different types and varieties such as russet, fingerling, red, white, purple and the most common of all its type is yellow.

Potato has a wide range of nutrients and minerals it contains as it is rich in fiber and potassium, iron, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and copper that helps lower blood pressure and protects the heart and even treat inflammation and some resultant disease like cancer and rheumatism. It also an excellent source of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Vitamin B6.
