Pork Picadillo Recipe

Picadillo is best described as sweet and sour in taste and a classic Cuban dish that almost every family has a version. Traditionally, it is made from ground beef, however, because beef is expensive and in very short supply, Cubans use pork instead in this easy recipe. Picadillo is a common dish found in the most Latin Americann countries like Mexico, cuba, costa rica, etc. It is commonly consist of minced meat, beef and pork are commonly used, simmered in a sauce made of tomatoes. Also, vegetable are often added. In the contrary, in the Philippine cuisine it is refers to a soupy dish made of minced meat and potatoes or sayote. You may still add other vegetable depending on what is available for you. Give this recipe a try and experience its meaty and delicious taste!



  • 1/2 kg ground pork
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 potato, cubed
  • 1 carrot, cubed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce (patis)
  • 2 eggs

How To Cook Pork Picadillo:

  1. Saute garlic, onion, and tomatoes. Add pork and simmer until tender.
  2. Add carrots, potatoes, and fish sauce. Cook until tender.
  3. Add water and let it simmer.
  4. Add eggs and simmer until cooked.
  5. Serve.
